Yoga-centered therapy

Yoga-Centered Therapy

Yoga-Centered Therapy uses yoga teachings and postures to supplement talk therapies by connecting clients with their bodies. It’s a beautiful blend of both movement and mind, bringing about both peace and clarity.

Yoga poses have varying effects on our nervous systems, so the sequences created for you are personalized to your needs.  They might be, for example, poses that help open up closed off places in the body, or to rest other areas that are activated.   Additionally, the yoga provides opportunities for mindful breathing and safe embodiment.

Courtney creates such a safe environment for people who have been wary of trying yoga.  People struggling with anxiety or depression can be intimidated by walking into a yoga studio or have been triggered in the past in a class. Here at FRG, we offer a yoga experience that is trauma sensitive, body positive, and appropriate for all levels of experience. This means each client is in charge and makes decisions about what feels right for them throughout the yoga sequences.  Over time, a regular yoga practice in a traditional studio could be more of an option.

Watch also for yoga groups at FRG.  The inspiration for these comes from Courtney’s experience teaching yoga groups in clinical group settings and having people search for similar experiences in their communities without finding what they need.

Our unique view at FRG that nervous system management is key to our emotional healing makes yoga be a natural fit to help guide clients through the healing process.

“Your practice is truly phenomenal. The team environment is incredible and I love how welcoming not just my therapist is, but all of the other team members as well. It feels like a community and I am so incredibly grateful that I was connected to FRG. Thank you all so much. Words cannot even express how thankful I am!” ~ Anonymous Satisfaction Survey Participant
